Global Warming my A**!

WTF?

Monday is June 1st, right? Should be warm weather, no? So explain this little bit of hoopla:

From weather.com:

Issued by The National Weather Service

... FREEZE WATCH IN EFFECT FROM LATE SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY MORNING...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN STATE COLLEGE HAS ISSUED A FREEZE WATCH... WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM LATE SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY MORNING.

AN UNSEASONABLY COLD AIR MASS WILL BECOME ESTABLISHED ACROSS THE REGION SUNDAY AND SUNDAY NIGHT. WITH MAINLY CLEAR SKIES AND LIGHT WINDS... TEMPERATURES COULD FALL AS LOW AS THE UPPER 20S AND LOWER 30S ACROSS THE NORTHERN MOUNTAINS... ESPECIALLY OVER THE ELEVATED VALLEYS... BY MONDAY MORNING.

"...ACROSS THE NORTHERN MOUNTAINS... ESPECIALLY OVER THE ELEVATED VALLEYS..."

What the hey!? We ARE one of the northern most mountains (there's only one ridge between us and NYS) so that's basically the Aerie. Could be a good thing that 1) cold air sinks and 2) we are at 2100 feet in elevation on the side of the mountain. The drop-off is some 700 feet to the valley floor so there's plenty of area for that cold air to sink.

We had a similar warning for the Aerie just two weeks ago.

I finally gave in & put on a sweater a few minutes ago. It's only 51 with clouds & a stiff breeze; my short-sleeve shirt just couldn't cope.

I guess we're all suffering from warming, eh?

Almost June and it is so cold. I think they are predicting frost up in the Adirondacks too.

It was warm up here in North Idaho today, but will be cooling off next week. We still have snow in the mountains that we see from our cabin. On the trip up here we went through Colorado and the Aspen Pass had 2 feet of snow along the highway! Yup, global warming....

In Michigan it snows one day, and then the next you have to turn on the air conditioner.

Rev. Paul, You're in Anchorage! It's supposed to be cold in Seward's Ice Box.

threecollie, Thanks for the warning! Hope you're cows aren't producing ice cream. ....Well, actually, that would be pretty cool....in a good way.

Cassie, When we drove out to Oregon two weeks ago, there was still lots of snow in the mountain passes through Wyoming, Idaho and Oregon. Two roads we wanted to take were closed. One in Oregon near the Sisters and the other along the Wyoming/Montana border just east of Yellowstone.

Shellmo, That's not much different than here. We had 80s and 90s in early May that had me put the AC in the bedroom window (the only one we really need use), and now I'm concerned about my tomato plants making it through the night.

Heck, even if the forecast is wrong and we don't get any freezing, what does it say about the climatologists' ability to predict what's going to happen 5-, 10- years down the line?
