College Football: Week 6 Polls and Schedule

Okay. There are some new players on the block so this has become an expanded Top 25 listing. As expected, LSU fell and Georgia moved up after their game on Saturday. OK. St. fell w-a-y down after losing to West Virginia and a lot of teams benefited from that to move up a slot or two.

Almost everyone is playing this week and several games pit ranked and/or undefeated teams against one another. We should see some movement after play is over.

#12 UCLA and Utah kick things off on Thursday night.

Rankings this week have been expanded to include those from CBSSports.com. The numbers are Associated Press, Coaches Poll and CBSSports.com. NR means the team is “Not Ranked” in that particular poll. The team’s current record is in parentheses following their name.

1/1/1 Alabama (4-0) The Crimson Tide will be hosting the Georgia State Panthers (0-4) who must really need some cash. The Tide rolls and rolls and rolls.

2/2/2 Oregon (4-0) The Ducks will head to Boulder to play the Colorado Buffaloes (2-1). The Ducks continue to score at will.

3/4/5 Clemson (4-0) The Tigers head north to play against the Syracuse Orange (2-2). Tigers win.

4/3/4 Ohio State (5-0) The Buckeyes play at the home of #16 Northwestern Wildcats (4-0). Someone goes home with a loss. This time it will be the Wildcats.

5/5/3 Stanford (4-0) The Cardinal host the #15 Washington Huskies (4-0). Another battle of unbeaten. This time the Cardinal will prevail over the Huskies.

6/6/12 Georgia (3-1) The Bulldogs head for Tennessee to play the Vols (3-2). Having played three ranked teams in their first four games, the Bulldogs should have an easier time picking up a win this week.

7/7/8 Louisville (4-0) The Cardinals go to Philadelphia to play the Temple Owls (0-4). Be merciful, Teddy. Please.

8/8/7 Florida State (4-0) The Seminoles host undefeated #25 Maryland Terrapins (4-0). The Seminoles will win.

9/9/10 Texas A&M (4-1) The Aggies have this weekend off.

10/11/6 LSU (4-1) The Tigers play on the road against the Mississippi State Bulldogs (2-2). They should rebound nicely in this game. Tigers win by double digits.

11/10/11 Oklahoma (4-0) The Sooners will host the Horned Frogs of TCU (2-2). Sooners win big as TCU has been struggling on both sides of the ball this year.

12/13/9 UCLA (3-0) The Bruins play Thursday night at the home of the Utah Utes (3-1). Good test for the Bruins but they should win a high-scoring squeeker.

13/12/19 South Carolina (3-1) The Gamecocks host the Kentucky Wildcats (1-3). Should be no problem but Connor Shaw got hurt last week. Will the rest of the offense step up? Yeah, I think they will.

14/14/14 Miami (Fla.) (4-0) The Hurricanes host the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (3-1). Canes should blow them away.

15/18/16 Washington (4-0) The Huskies host the #5 Stanford Cardinal (4-0). Yeah they have the home field advantage but it won’t be enough.

16/15/17 Northwestern (4-0) The Wildcats host the #4 Ohio State Buckeyes (5-0). OSU is too strong and will win this one.

17/16/15 Baylor (3-0) The Bears head to Morgantown and play the West Virginia Mountaineers (3-2). Should be high scoring--for the Bears.

18/19/22 Florida (3-1) The Gators are hosting the Arkansas Razorbacks (3-2). This one could be a toss-up, but it’s tough to beat Florida in the Swamp. Gators in a close contest.

19/17/18 Michigan (4-0) The Wolverines host the Minnesota Golden Gophers (4-1). The Wolverines win and remain undefeated—if they play a clean game. The Gophers can put points on the board –and will if Michigan gives them enough chances.

20/22/23 Texas Tech (4-0) The Red Raiders play at Kansas (2-1). Raiders over the Jayhawks.

21/20/13 Oklahoma State (3-1) The Cowboys are back home against the Kansas State Wildcats (2-2). OSU will rebound from their loss to West Virginia.

22/24/NR Arizona State (3-1) The Sun Devils play the Irish of Notre Dame (3-2) in Arlington, Texas. ASU -0) should be able to beat the Irish who have been committing mistakes by the bushel full.

23/21/25 Fresno State (4-0) The Bulldogs head north to the Kibbie Dome of the Idaho Vandals (1-4). Carr should have a big day picking the Vandal defense apart as the Bulldogs enjoy their trip to Moscow.

24/NR/20 Ole Miss (3-1) The Rebels play at the home of the Auburn Tigers. Competitive game. Pick ‘em.

25/NR/NR Maryland (4-0) The Terrapins head south to play the #8 Florida State Seminoles (4-0). Seminoles’ Winston holds a clinic as the ‘Noles win.

NR/23/NR Northern Illinois (4-0) The Huskies play at Kent State. NIU wins again.

NR/25/NR Nebraska (3-1) The Cornhuskers host the Fighting Illini (3-1). Identical records do not mean they are equal. Nebraska is struggling to find leadership, however. Could be a surprisingly close game if Martinez doesn’t return at QB for Nebraska.

NR/NR/21 Wisconsin (3-2) The Badgers have this weekend off.

NR/NR/24 UCF (3-1) The Knights play on the road against the Memphis Tigers (1-2). The Knights win.
