Bowl Season Predicitons, Part 11

Whew! That was a busy couple of days. From here until January 7th, however, we have just one game a day.

We start Wednesday night with the Sugar Bowl out of New Orleans with an 8:30 PM kickoff. The Louisville Cardinals (10-2) face the Gators of Florida (11-1). The Gators are listed as 14 point favorites.

Louisville is going to have to depend upon the arm of sophomore quarterback Teddy Bridgewater if they are to have any success. Bridgewater completed 69% of his passes this year but stumbled a bit down the stretch after suffering a broken wrist and sprained ankle. He couldn’t start the final game of the year in which Louisville fell behind Rutgers 14-3 at the half. He did come off the bench to complete 20 of 28 263 yards and two TDs to rally the Cardinals to a 2017 win. Bridgewater has had time to heal and when he's healthy, he's very very good. For the season, Bridgewater threw for 3,452 yards and 25 touchdowns.

The Gators’ defense is ranked 13th in the nation against the pass yielding just 186 yards per game while giving up just five passing TDs and making 19 interceptions. They are also 6th in the nation against the run (96.6 ypg) and 3rd in the nation in scoring defense allowing just 12.9 points per game.

Florida has been somewhat inconsistent on offense. They are 113th passing (143.9 ypg) and 35th in rushing (194.1 ypg). Louisville is 19th in pass defense (193.8 ypg) and 50th against the rush (151.1 ypg).

My pick: Florida
