A Little Jazz for a Saturday Evening.

Feeling like a road trip. Route 66--or what's left of it--would be just fine. In the meantime, this will have to do.

This version is pretty hip, too.

Today's the Day!

Pitchers and Catchers, baby!

It's on!

This year I'm going to find a way to go to a couple of games. Minor or major league won't matter as long as I can get out to the ball park and watch the action while sipping a beer (or two) and eating some peanuts, popcorn, Crackerjacks and hot dogs.

Spring is when every major league hopeful aims to impress and make the roster. Every year some young phenom shows up and heads north with the team. This causes the casual fan to ask the most important question:

(He could sing and dance like few others. But, man, was he weird in his personal life!)

Filed Under: Things learned on the roof

You know that song "Up On The Roof" by the Drifters? Yeah, this one:

Well, I'm here to report that the line: "...where you just have to wish to make it so..." is a falsehood.

I spent all day yesterday up on the roof and not once did a bikini-clad lass show up with an ice cold beer.

Maybe if I had spent my time "Under the Boardwalk"....

At least then the top of my head and backs of my ears would not have gotten burned.

Traveling Music

While traveling today, I listened to a couple of CDs: The Blues Brothers, Blues Brothers 2000 and C.W. McCall's Greatest Hits. I consider all of them traveling music.

Whether on a "mission from God" or just in search of a Battle of the Bands competition outside of New Orleans, Jake, Elwood, and Mack spent a lot of time in their vehicle. Usually being chased by someone. Cops, Illinois Nazis, disgruntled and angry country bands or even more cops, it didn't seem to matter. Someone wanted them. Bad. I guess Everybody Needs Somebody. ya just gotta go Looking (for a Fox)

And the Blues Brothers' Show Band and the characters they met up with could play some mean licks, blow a hot horn, or belt out one hell of a tune. I find their songs bewitching.

And C.W. does a real fine job in the story telling line.

A prime example is this:

And this one's pretty good, too:

Very Cool Ad!

Yeo Valley Dairy Ad
Rapping Dairy Farmers? Guess not all rap is crap.

(lifted from Theo Spark he's always got some every cool stuff; day in and day out.)

Come to Australia...NOT!

Call it a "demotivational" theme song for the Australian Tourist Board.

Yeah. really makes me want to hop on a jet and fly 12 hours (or more) to the gorgeous land down under.

Watch this!

Okay. Maybe you've seen this already. After all, it got 1 MILLION hits in one day. But man, oh man! it is definitely worth watching again. And I don't care what the guys are singing. These are the same guys who did the video choreographed with treadmills. This time they have some friends helping out.

Our National Anthem

I get lots of stuff from my Florida cousins. Most of it is sappy forwarded emails that I read and then delete (I'm not much for forwarding stuff). Occasionally they send me stuff that I DO want to share. Here's one:

This young man (age 7) sings the National Anthem at a college basketball game.

Remember: He's just SEVEN years old. The song is difficult to sing. (That's why the pros play around with it so damn much.) He sings it straight and hits all the notes. Just like it should be.

Give it to me Straight!

For your first day of Advent listening. Enjoy.

Feats Don't Fail Me Now!

So, the Peggy Lee video in the earlier post sent me to YouTube and through a weird, strange and eerie Kevin-Bacon-connection method that no one really understands but anyone who has been to YouTube experiences, I kept clicking around and listening and got to Little Feat.

And man does this one ROCK!
