Aerie AM Report, March 12, 2010

It started raining overnight and is still misting a bit as I write. The temperature never got below 43 degrees and combined with the rain this means a great deal of the snow that was on the ground around the Aerie has melted away leaving behind a sea of mud. The clouds are down around 2200 feet obscuring the tops of the windmills on the hillside across the way. Looking down into the valley there's very little snow on the fields and pastures that are visible. Mud Season has arrived.

The raccoon came back to the deck last night and this time knocked the tray off to the far side. If the coon was on board at the time it had a drop of about a dozen feet to the ground below. I hope it enjoyed its flight!

Saw the first Chipmunk of the season when I looked out at the bird feeders this morning. It was poking in and out of all the rock crevasses as it tried to avoid the much larger gray squirrels that were already present.

Terry halted her northward trip around the Richmond, VA, area and should be home this afternoon in plenty of time to attend the church dinner this evening. Sounds like it'll be pierogies for supper!
