Thursday morning bird walk

We met at the spillway to the Hammond-Tioga Lakes dam and carpooled up to the lookout. From there we walked the 1.5 miles back down to the cars. It was a very, very windy morning but that didn't stop the swallows, ospreys and even an immature bald eagle from swooping and soaring above the east end of Hammond Lake. The smaller forest birds, however, seemed to be clinging to their tree branches and hiding from view. We could hear a few warblers, but sighting them among the waving leaves was nearly impossible. Today's list, therefore, contains only 23 species:

Location: Hammond-Tioga Lakes Overlook
Observation date: 6/2/11
Notes: Clear, brisk, very windy. Cool 58-61 degrees.
Walked the road from the overlook down to the spillway.
