Week 17 of the NFL Season--
"Turn out the lights, the party's over..."
But the playoffs start next Saturday

The Giants and Jets both won their final game of the regular season. The Jets get to go home but the Giants clinched First Place in their Division so they get to play on.

The Redskins beat the Eagles to send the Cowboys home for the season regardless of the outcome of tonight’s Dallas game.

Dick Vermeil has retired—again. This time from the Kansas City Chiefs. He’s been a great coach, but his hours were insane. He is said to have slowed down this year to only 20-hour days. He's also a class act every where he has been.

Meanwhile there were—well, oddities. Was it Farve’s last game? Is the Bus going up on blocks for good? (He had three TDs today in what is probably his final regular season game. (After seeing Vinnie come back this year and Flutie still playing for New England, I've learned nothing is certain.) The Steelers are in the playoffs.) And then there was this: Flutie converts first drop kick since 1941 championship.
(Patriots lost but they clinched the AFC East a long time ago.)

Houston finished with an overtime loss giving them a 2-14 record. They win the race for the No. 1 Pick in the draft.
The Saints lost too, but they are 3-13 so they get No. 2.
