College Football 2011, Preweek 7

Week 7: The number of undefeated teams is slowly swindling as the season progresses. This week, there are 13 such teams in the AP Top 25. None of them are playing one another, however, so it’s possible that all will maintain their unblemished record. (#25 Houston is guaranteed to remain unbeaten at 6-0 since they do not play.)

All the ranked teams playing this week are playing on Saturday. Four of the Top 25--five if you count Notre Dame--are not playing at all. There are games of unranked teams scheduled for Thursday (San Diego State at Air Force at 8 PM EDT and USC at Cal at 9 PM EDT) and Friday (Hawaii at San Jose State at 9 PM EDT). Four games pit ranked teams against one another: #6 Oklahoma State (5-0) vs #22 Texas Longhorns (4-1), #9 Oregon (4-1) vs #18 Arizona State Sun Devils (5-1), #11 Michigan (6-0) vs #23 Michigan State Spartans (4-1), and #20 Baylor (4-1) vs #21 Texas A&M Aggies (3-2). The lower ranked team (and even #21 Baylor) may see themselves off the list should they lose.
