We've had our first withdrawls (scratches) from the Iditarod. Four racers have halted their attempts at Rainy Pass.
Karin Hendricksen (23), Zoya DeNure (5), Michael Suprenant (30), and Kirk Barnum (34) have stopped for this year. All had been in the race before and will likely return in the future. But for this year....
Hedricksen suffered a broken sled.
DeNure had a medical reason for dropping out--a breast infection.
Suprenant also pulled out for medical reasons.
No word on Barnum.
From the Anchorage Daily News: Four mushers drop out of Iditarod
There are still 67 mushers on the trail to Nome.

As always, cheering for Jeff King, who was kind enough to come here to our region to visit a young man with cancer, who was his Iditarider one year.
