Cold morning at the Aerie.

Well, the clouds cleared away during the night and left us with a clear sky that has continued into the daylight hours. That turned out to be a mixed blessing as the clouds acted as a heat blanked and kept the snow covered ground a bit warmer. When they disappeared, all bets were off and the mercury fell faster than congressional approval ratings. It was 9 degrees when I looked at 7 AM and that was on the way up from a low of 7 at 5 AM. We're into double digits now and may even reach 30 degrees with brilliant sunshine.

Average low for this date is 22 degrees while the high is 40 degrees.
Record low was 6 in 1976 and the record high was 68 in 2001.
