Rutgers’ men’s basketball team romped over Maryland Eastern Shore 92-50 at the RAC tonight. Rutgers began the game with a 14-0 run and never looked back. Everyone on the RU bench got a chance to play and six players reached double digits.
Junior Quincy Douby, fresh off games of 27 points and 36 points, and being named the ESPN.com Player of the Week and Big East Co-Player of the Week (freshman point guard Anthony Farmer was the other Big East Player of the Week), scored his 1,000th point in his Rutgers career. Douby didn’t reach his Big East leading average points scored (22.0 coming into the game); he only had 18 points because he sat out much of the second half because the HUGE lead RU held all game long.
Farmer did NOT set a new career high, something he did the last two games. He came up a few points shy with only 15 scored. Byron Joynes had only 10 points scored but also pulled down 10 rebounds for his first double-double.
Story and stats are here.
Rutgers is now 6-1. They play again on Saturday against Buffalo in Buffalo, NY.
