Farts for a healthier world!

Eco-friendly kangaroo farts could help global warming: scientists
Australian scientists are trying to give kangaroo-style stomachs to cattle and sheep in a bid to cut the emission of greenhouse gases blamed for global warming, researchers say.

Thanks to special bacteria in their stomachs, kangaroo flatulence contains no methane and scientists want to transfer that bacteria to cattle and sheep who emit large quantities of the harmful gas.

Now, wouldn’t that require something akin to genetic manipulation? There’s got to be some sort of quid pro quo between the bacteria and the ‘roo for them to coexist. If the cattle and sheep that were brought to the continent had the same stomach environment as the ‘roo, wouldn’t they have the same bacteria by now? Just asking.

I was wondering the same. It just doesn't seem natural, but, if its like (us humans;-)taking Acidophilus (for digestion) for example, then maybe.
