Winter is ending!

Winter must be pretty nearly over. Why would I say that, you ask? Well, as sure as the robin's return in the spring, this Monday’s mail included a catalog from this company, that’s why. So no matter what this says, winter must be coming to a close. I mean, the days are getting longer. Haven’t you noticed?

I'll sit for hours with Burpee's and Gurney's and look at all the beautiful plants and dream of the garden I want to put in. Something the size of the Victory Garden they show on PBS will do.

Reality will set in and I'll usually get a few tomato and pepper seeds, maybe some succhini squash swwda and bush beans or maybe pole beans. I'll get the peppers and tomatoes started indoors and plant the rest outside when the weather warms enough.

I'll water and tend them carefully for about a month and then we'll be off on vacation for a couple of weeks.

When I get home there's usually nothing much left as the critters and weeds have gotten what dry weather or floods haven't. If I'm really lucky I'll get a dozen tomatoes and maybe half as many peppers.
